The Registry is organized into five units:
Operations:
this unit defines the technical procedures for registration, activities related to all operations on .it domains registered and the help desk for Registrars.

Systems and Technological Development Unit:
The Systems and Technological Development Unit is responsible, among other things, for the design and development of registration systems for domain names and technologically innovative tools to underpin the management of the .it Registry. In addition, the Unit deals with implementation and execution of these tools, the management, development and monitoring of the Registry's network and its equipment, services for Registrars (DNS, Whois, EPP servers, Web, mail, telephone, etc.), along with the provision of a helpdesk for Registrars and Internet users in general. The Unit also carries out technical training for Registry staff and Registrars, as well as maintaining relationships with international organizations by participating in conferences and technical working groups (e.g. CENTR, ISOC, RIPE-NCC, ICANN).

External Relations, Media and Communication:
deals with internal and external communication, organizes training courses and events for Registrars; plays the role of Press Office; manages the helpdesk for end users and Registrars (for general information).

Disputes and legal issues:
manages activities relating to all issues of legal nature on .it domains (disputes, access to legal documents, etc.)

International Relations:
participates in the activities of the international organizations dealing with policies related to the domain names system.
