Reserved/geographical domains
Some .it domains are reserved and are not assignable, for example, names corresponding to certain services or web resources (eg www.it, internet.it, mail.it, etc.) or the names of Italian regions, provinces and municipalities (eg toscana.it, pisa.it, etc). Others are always reserved, but can be assigned to local authorities. These are the so-called "geographical domains" that correspond to the official designation of regions, provinces and municipalities in Italy (eg region.tuscany.it, municipality.pisa.it, etc.). The request for registration of the latter may be made:
- sending a specific request, available in rtf and pdf format:
- Form for registering a reserved domain name in rtf format
- Form for registering a reserved domain name in pdf format
English version (not to be sent):
The request must be sent only in the Italian version. The English
version is available only for a better comprehension of the document.
You cannot edit the template, which must be fully completed and signed by the Registrant.

Any "geographical domains" that do not match official names (eg name.tuscany.it, company.pisa.it, etc.) can be regularly registered.
