Digital natives
It is the young and the very young who were born into the
"digital" age, where the Internet, video games, cell phones and
social networks are now an integral part of everyday life. This project of the
.it registry is dedicated to these digital natives. The idea is to promote the
culture of the Internet in schools and at the same time to raise awareness of
national and international standards underlying the Internet and the role of
the Registry of Italian domain names.
In order speak about the Web and the opportunities it can offer, in partnership with Current Tv (an independent channel that broadcasts via cable and satellite) we made a video that covers some of the most interesting issues related to the Internet world. These include the birth of the network and dot it domains, the digital divide, the key role of search engines, social changes triggered by the Internet, the opportunities, and the future of the Net. There are animations, interviews with experts, and jokes.
The video is being distributed to 3,000 high schools accompanied by posters, leaflets (download the brochure) and information material. The aim is reach at least a half million students and the idea is for it to be watched and discussed in class with the teacher.
Any italian high schools interested in the Digital Natives Kit can request it by writing to comunicazione@registro.it
