Becoming a Maintainer

expired

To become a Maintainer you need to sign a contract with the .it Registry which allows you to register and maintain .it domains in asynchronous mode.

From 1 July 2010 it is no longer possible to draw up "Maintainer" contracts, i.e. contracts for asynchronously registering .it domain names. All contracts expire on 31 December 2010.
There are two types of contract:

This contract requires appropriate technical skills to manage the domain name requested and is restricted to natural or legal persons with a  VAT number.

The steps are:

1. complete the contract using the form
2. have the contract signed by the legal representative, date it, and send it to the Registry in two copies (on unheaded or headed paper) to:
Istituto di Informatica e Telematica - CNR
Registro del ccTLD. it - Ufficio amministrazione
Via Giuseppe Moruzzi, 1
56124 PISA ITALY

IIT's legal representative signs both copies. A countersigned copy will be returned to the sender.
The contract includes the initial payment, on receipt of invoice, of  € 2500,00 + VAT which includes:

  • the cost of setting up the Maintainer within the Registry;
  • the registration of 60 new domain names to be used within one year after the contract has been drawn up.

For direct contracts the cost is €250  + VAT. This sum is applied only for the first year. The direct contract can be renewed on the expiry date, by paying a sum of €105  + VAT.

Along with the contract, the Registry also proposes the underwriting of Rules of good conduct.
Underwriting the rules of good conduct is voluntary and does not preclude having a contract.
