The Registro .it Ludoteca was on the road in Italy to celebrate thirty years since the first.it domain name! On this occasion, the Ludoteca, together with its young internauts, explored the functions, problems and opportunities associated with the world of Internet. The Roadshow crossed Italy, from North to South, with a tour including 5 stages: the Ludoteca set off from Turin on 2 March, stopped off in Udine on 23 March, visited Pescara on 20 April, Lecce on 3-4 May and Rome on 11 May. The journey will finish on 23 May with a final party in Pisa, in the CNR Research Area.

Turin counted 74 pupils of the ‘Vittorino da Feltre’ Primary school who joined us for the morning session (3 hours of activities!) of games, cartoons and crosswords on the Web. The panel discussion of the afternoon session was aimed at teachers and parents and was on the relationship between youngsters and the digital world. The panel included the sociologist Giovanni Boccia Artieri, researcher Eleonora Pantò, psychologist Ersilia Menesini and security expert Giuseppe Augiero.

In Udine 130 pupils of the primary schools of Udine (‘Toppo Wassermann’, Istituto Comprensivo 5, ‘Zardini’, Istituto comprensivo 4, "E. Girardini", Istituto Comprensivo 6) and Trieste (‘Umberto Saba’, Istituto Comprensivo Roiano Gretta) brought the morning session of the Playroom to life in no uncertain terms! The session for adults saw some new faces and themes on the panel dedicated to the digital world and the future with Simone Puksic (President of Insiel S.p.A.), building bridges to beat the ‘digital divide’ with Oriana Cok (Thinker, manager and entrepreneur of Gruppo Pragma and Intoote, in the Area Science Park in Trieste) and Cyberbullying with Giovanna Tambasco (Department of Science Education and Psychology of Florence University) and Giacomo Trevisan (Association M.E.C.). Also there was the not-to-be-missed session of Giuseppe Augiero (Ftgm-CNR) on Web security.

More than 200 young internauts of the Pescara (Istituto Comprensivo 3 and 6) primary schools, third stage of the Roadshow, took part in the games and lessons of the Ludoteca. In the afternoon, there were lots of parents and teachers who attended the workshop on Internetopoli and the panel discussion, which saw the participation of: Sonia Montegiove (Publishing Editor of Tech Economy) with “Everyone (dis)connected. Guide to digital awareness”; Giovanna Tambasco (Department of Science Education and Psychology of Florence University) with “Cyberbullying and network risks: what we know and what can we do?”; Giuseppe Augiero (Ftgm-CNR Pisa, web security expert) with “Safe on the Web: navigation tools for youngsters and Ada Grillantini (School head Istituto Comprensivo Pescara 6) with “Sick connections. The school getting involved”.

In the last but one stage in Lecce, the Registro .it Ludoteca staff navigated with the basic notions of the Web and the digital world together with more than 150 young internauts (of the primary schools  IV Circolo Cantobelli, Livio Tempesta, Circolo Giovanni 23rd, Scuola comunale of Surbo, and Centro Montessori).

The customary afternoon session involved a wide range of guests, including: Salvatore Giuliano (head of Itis Majorana Brindisi);  Benedetta Palladino (Department of Science Education and Psychology of Florence University) and her keynote speech “Cyberbullying and network risks: what do we know and what can we do?”; Giuseppe Augiero (Ftgm-Cnr Pisa, Web safety expert) and his “Safe on the Web: navigation tools for youngsters”;  and finally, “Digital Citizenship and the 8 skills to get” di  Iliana Morelli (Boboto).

The last stop in Rome counted 30 pupils of the primary school "Istituto comprensivo Fratelli Bandiera". In the afternoon, there was the usual workshop on Internetopoli and the panel discussion, which saw the participation of:

  • Sandro Montanari, AGCOM official and Honorary Judge of the Minors Section of the Appeal Court of Rome;
  • Domenico Pontrandolfo, President of CERTIPASS, issuing body of the International Programmes of IT Certification EIPASS and IIPASS;
  • Antonio Tintori, CNR researcher, Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies, Professor of Methodologies of Social Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome;
  • Fabio Del Vigna, CNR researcher, Institute of Telematics and Informatics of the CNR.
