From 9 to 12 October 2025, Pisa once again became the capital of digital innovation with the fifteenth “live” edition of Internet Festival, which will continue online until December. This year’s edition, dedicated to the theme #identity, offered insights into how technology shapes the way we build, protect, and present who we are, across both real and virtual dimensions.
The 2025 edition of the Internet Festival, scheduled to take place in Pisa from 9 to 12 October, is focused on the theme of #identity, understood in a broad and multifaceted sense: who we are (or think we are), how we wish to appear, and how we evolve in the ongoing interplay between the real and the virtual, between the need for privacy and the desire for visibility in an increasingly interconnected world.
From 9 to 12 October 2025, the city of Pisa will host the 15th edition of the Internet Festival, which this year focuses on the theme of #identity. Not just digital identity, but a broader and more complex concept: how we perceive ourselves, how we wish to be seen, and how we evolve in the constant interplay between the real and virtual worlds, between the need for privacy and the desire for visibility, between authenticity and self-image construction.
From 4 to 6 June, Registro .it will be at BolognaFiere for We Make Future (WMF) 2025, the international trade fair focused on Artificial Intelligence, Technology, and Digital Innovation.
On 4 April, the annual meeting of the Registro .it was held, which this year recorded a particularly high number of participants, both in presence and remotely: the central theme of the day was the adoption in Italy of NIS2 (Network and Information Security, second version) and its impact on the ecosystem of .it domain name management, both from a technical and managerial, legal and operational point of view.
The new Registrar contract has been published, with a duration of 18 months, valid from May 1, 2025, to October 31, 2026. Starting today, the document is available on the Registro .it website.
For the first time, Registro .it participated in Bari, at BTM (Business Tourism Management) Italia 2025, the Fiera del Levante. This event focused on the future of tourism, digitalization, and Artificial Intelligence, providing the perfect setting to explore the connection between digital tourism, digital identity, and Made in Italy.
Increasing the online presence of businesses, promoting the .it domain name as an online identity and a symbol of Made in Italy: these are the primary goals of the Registro .it, the registry for Italian Internet domain names (.it), managed by the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR (CNR-IIT) in Pisa. For the first time, the Registro .it will be present in Bari with its own booth at BTM (Business Tourism Management) Italia 2025, from February 26 to 28.
CNR-IIT director and head of the Registro .it, Marco Conti, is one of nine members of the Scientific Technical Committee (STC) of the National Cybersecurity Agency (NCA).
