On 8 and 9 February, on the occasion of Safer Internet Day, the day dedicated to the safe and aware use of the Internet, Registro .it will take part in “CodyTrip in Pisa, to the roots of the Internet and the Universe”, a “virtual” tour of museums, exhibitions and historical sites in the city of the “leaning tower”. The event has been organised in partnership with Prof. Alessandro Bogliolo, from the University of Urbino and coordinator of the project, and with the participation of the CNR and many other public and private organisations.
The “stop” at Registro .it includes a seminar on domain names and DNS held by Mrs. Giorgia Bassi and Mrs. Beatrice Lami, and one on network infrastructure held by Mr. Luca Vasarelli.
Cody trip - an initiative of Digit srl, in partnership with the University of Urbino, Giunti Scuola and CampuStore - is a “virtual” trip in which thousands of primary and secondary school students participate remotely. More than 20,000 students from around 600 different cities have registered for the Pisan days. Participation is free.
Pisa is not a random choice: it was here that the CEP, the first Pisan electronic calculator, was built; the first Italian connection to the Internet was made from the Pisan CNR, from the then CNUCE; and it is also here that the CNR (through the Institute of Informatics and Telematics) has been managing the Registro .it since its establishment.
Thanks to specially designed technical solutions, the entire trip can be followed live, both at home and at school, from any device connected to the Internet, without the need for specific applications. Members can follow every stage of the trip live with their teachers, classmates and families, participating actively, interacting with the guides, making shared decisions, answering questions and earning points and certificates
More than 120,000 pupils from more than 2000 Italian cities have taken part in previous editions of CodyTrip. By virtue of the impact it has proved to have, in terms of combating educational poverty, digital civic education and intergenerational dialogue, the initiative enjoys the patronage of Save the Children, Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Grey Panthers and Telefono Azzurro.
