08.04.2024 | Virtual tour

From Monday 8 to Friday 12 April 2024 the Science Festival organises a series of virtual tours, called “Digitour”.

The initiative, designed for first and second grade secondary schools’ students, will stop at the Registro .it on 9 April (from 9.30 am to 12 pm) with the following appointments:

  • Beatrice Lami (Cnr-Iit/Registro .it) will explain: The Registro .it, organisation and role; the .it suffix that identifies Italy on the web; and the Whois, the database of all registered .it names
  • Luca Vasarelli (Cnr-Iit/Registro .it) will talk about the Internet Protocol (IP) address and Domain Name System
  • Abraham Gebrehiwot (Cnr-Iit) will explain the network equipment, their functioning and purpose, and will show some examples of them.

The Digitour activity was born within the new initiative of the Science Festival, called “Con gli occhi della Ricerca” (With the Eyes of Research) and dedicated to students, children, and young people. The latter is, in turn, part of the large project of the National Research Council (CNR), which is entitled “The widespread research. A new alliance between CNR scientific network and local organisations.”

Digitour aims to allow young people to learn about the world of scientific research, through immersive and engaging activities, and to let themselves be infested with curiosity and interest, by virtually visiting those places of science often perceived as abstract and distant, and interacting with CNR researchers and personnel, who daily carry out their work in institutes, structures, and laboratories.
