.itCup Registro, the competition for startups promoted by the CNR, ends the 2017 edition with the victory of Ludwig, the first linguistic search engine that helps to write correctly in English. The final, held in Rome, Thursday 26 October, in the presence of the CNR President Massimo Inguscio, starred the six startup finalists chosen in July from more than a 100 project entries, and who had already undergone three days of intensive training in Pisa in mid-October.
Ludwig got first prize, a flight to Silicon Valley to attend the prestigious Startup School of Mind The Bridge. The prize, the #SanFranciscoDreaming, is offered as every year by the Fondazione Denoth – a non-profit making body dedicated to the memory of scientist Franco Denoth, director of Registro .it for many years- and by Fatture in Cloud, winner of the 2014 edition of the .itCup of Registro .it, and today one of the most well-known successful startups of the Italian panorama in recent years also due to its acquisition by the Teamsystem group.
The "technical" prize of the competition, #itFan, offered by the investment fund Prana Ventures of Milano and by the Tuscan digital agency iDNA, went to Easy Tax Assistant whose team obtained a high profile communication package and a budget to spend in further marketing activities.
The other finalists appearing in front of the jury of experts, made up of Anna Amati (Metagroup), Roberto Magnifico (LVenture), Anna Testa (Cisco), Diego Ciulli (Google) and Fabio Lalli (Iquii), were Noon Care (platform for the care of elderly people by means of smartphone), Glitch Factory (Siena University spinoff which presented a project for an interactive tablet cover), Pharmercure (home delivery of medicines) and Smart Training System (sensor system for gyms).
The .itCup competition marks the end of an important year for Registro .it, the Registry of Italian domain names managed by the CNR, which in 2017 celebrates 30 years since registration of the first .it domain name. This long year of festivities for Registro .it ends next 24 November at the Pelota of Milan with the great celebrations of "30 years of .it”.
